Microsoft has launched its most awaited new mobile operating system at Mobile world congress which they have called as “Windows phone 7 series”. It is rebranded from “Windows mobile” to “Windows phone 7 series”. They are now planning to launch their own mobile phone instead of only selling their OS to other phone manufacturers like HTC. This might directly compete with Apple iphone. In the same way that the Windows 7 desktop OS was nearly everything people hoped it would be, Windows Phone 7 is almost everything anyone could’ve dreamed of in a phone, let alone a Microsoft phone. It changes everything. Why? Now that Microsoft has filled in its gaping chasm of suck with a meaningful phone effort, the three most significant companies in desktop computing—Apple, Google and Microsoft—now stand to occupy the same positions in mobile. Phones are officially computers that happen to fit in your pocket.
Not only name is different but the makeover done here is also big. New look of the OS is largely influenced by their own “Zune” player interface. The phone operating system does away with pretty much every scrap of previous mobile efforts from Microsoft, from the look and feel down to the underlying code — everything is brand new. It features completely different home screen and fully new user interface. It seems Windows has finally realized to change their traditional stylus friendly interface to finger friendly interface. Seems like heat of competition from other manufacturers specially
“Apple”.
The Home page of the new interface has big finger friendly icons aka “live tiles” which will internally call their own old applications. Home page is fully customizable and can be scrolled vertically. Old style start menu is probably gone. Home page interface with widget like icons seems to be inspired by android. they’re linked with online data sources such as Facebook or Flickr or email, grouped in “hubs” that bring together data from applications, corporate servers like Microsoft Exchange, and the Web. Text and tiles “overflow” the touch screen, but users pan quickly through arrangements that are visually consistent in each hub.
New OS is well focused in social networking. “People hub” feature is all you need here. Updates from all your friends in different social networking site facebook are directly displayed. Still it has no twitter support but should be coming soon. I find it very useful as it gets rid of opening different sites and check updates in all. if you really like someone or want to stalk them hardcore, you can make them a tile on your Start screen, which will update in realtime with whatever they’re posting, and pull down their photos from whatever service. There’s also your very own profile page, where you can scan your current social state and post updates to multiple services simultaneously. All of your contacts are automatically synced by internet to Microsoft exchange, windows live etc.
Just like Apple’s strategy of “Iphone with Ipod” will be “Windows 7 with Zune ” in new operating system. The phone will have built in zune player. This is your media hub. Also they have added FM radio in this hub.
Pictures are a little different though, and get its very own hub. That’s because it’s intensely connected—you can share photos and video with social networks straight from the hub, and via the cloud, they’re kept in sync with your PC and web galleries. The latest photos your friends post also show up here. Of course, you get around with multitouch zoom and zip-zip scrolling stuff.
There is xbox icon on the home page that means you can access xbox live directly from your mobile phone. It indicates that there might be some mobile games are in queue to be launched. What I hope is some improvement in Internet explorer as of now it sucks a big time!!

Windows phone 7 series operating system will be released to other mobile manufacturers also like HTC, Sony etc. They have to comply with strict hardware requirement like multi touch, dedicated start and search button,

Final words are “I definitely want to try it”. It combines zune, xbox etc in your mobile phone in new better organized manner. It seems there is now hope for Microsoft to survive in mobile world with its new mobile phone.

Twitter, the popular social news service, was hacked early Friday morning by a group calling itself the “Iranian Cyber Army.”

Users hoping to find their latest tweets were instead shown by a black screen with a green flag.

Above the flag, in Arabic, read: “Hezbollah is victorious.”

On the flag, in red Arabic writing: “Yassin” (an Arabic name written in bold) then in smaller Arabic print “the feast of peace.”

Below the flag was more written in Farsi.
In English, the hackers wrote: “This site has been hacked by Iranian Cyber Army. U.S.A think they controlling [sic] and managing internet by their access, but they don’t, we control and manage internet by our power so do not try to stimulation (sic) Iranian People To…..
Now Which Country is embargo list? Iran? Usa?
We push them in embargo list ; )
Take care.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu last week was quoted by a senior official as saying, “Using the Internet and Twitter against the Iranian regime is something extraordinary that the U.S. can do.”

There is no evidence at this time that Iran or Hezbollah is behind the attack.

Facebook has decided to index its users profile informarion allowing search engines to list users private information to be displayed on search results.. here is the solution to prevent listing on search engines..

Facebook has been well known for its privacy policy. Till the time facebook users didn’t worry about their profile privacy as Facebook does not allow search engine to crawl its user’s public profiles. But from today Facebook has decided to go Public!! Facebook will let Search engine like google, yahoo, bing etc to index facebook users profile exposing users personal information to public.

It means your personal information like your photos, address, contact numbers will be exposed by search engine. Facebook has started its indexing functionality this week and has given 1 month time to its users to change their privacy settings in Facebook. Currently Facebook is blocking search engine because there is no sitemap kind of technique used by Facebook.

So it means that now your private information is no longer safe?? No you can change the setting in your facebook account to block search engine to crawl your profile information.

Go to “Settings” -> “Privacy settings” -> “Search” -> uncheck the toggle button allowing indexing

Do it today unless wants to have public fame!!

Facebook is doing this to have more and more traffic by references of search engine. Flood of search engine redirected traffic will emerge as soon as facebook starts indexing. This may be because of just recently Twitter has allowed indexing their tweets to become more popular. If Facebook also allow index then they also can compete with Twitter. I don’t know why Facebook think so as in my opinion Facebook and Twitter are two different things.

Indexing of Facebook users has also an advantage for people who want to be public for their product marketing or business spread. Facebook might also end up in advertising portal!! It will be easier for a person to find his/her friend on facebook easily by search engine.

For me I don’t need any fame and want to be popular so I will change my privacy settings just now but what about millions of users who might be ignorant or forgot to change setting or might not been aware of this indexing thing. Spread the news so that more and more users can protect their private information to be displayed in search engine.

I hope Facebook will not start Photo indexing after this and compromise photos of millions of users in image search engines…

Mysterious Blue spiral light appeared in Norway sky. Many speculations emerged pointing to various theories like russian missile, UFO, meteor...

on 6th december wednesday, strange spiral blue light had appeared in the sky in Norway. That, Norwegian residents and international spectators baffled as videos of the incident hit YouTube.

The light appeared in the sky one day before US President Barack Obama scheduled his appointment to give acceptance speech for his Nobel Peace prize in Oslo.

Many romours have spread regarding speculating what spiral light was about. Many people believe it was Russian rocket while some think it as meteor, shock wave.. Even many groups are believe that alien space ship (UFO) possibillity can not be ignored !!

The phenomenon began when what appeared to be a blue light seemed to soar up from behind a mountain. It stopped mid-air, then began to circulate. Within seconds a giant spiral had covered the entire sky. Then a green-blue beam of light shot out from its centre – lasting for ten to twelve minutes before disappearing completely. The Norwegian Meteorological Institute was flooded with telephone calls after the light storm – which astronomers have said did not appear to have been connected to the aurora, or Northern Lights, so common in that area of the world. Fred Hansen, from Bø in Vesterålen, described the sight as ‘like a big fireball that went around, with a great light around it again.

Check video here ..

Maybe Rupert Murdoch was serious about wanting to go without Google.

Murdoch’s News Corp. has initiated discussions with Microsoft over a plan to have the media company’s Web content essentially delisted from the world’s largest search engine, according to a report Sunday in the Financial Times that cited a person familiar with the situation. Microsoft, which owns rival search engine Bing, has also reportedly approached media giants about having their content removed from Google search results as well.

If it’s five o’clock in the morning and you have to spend your time with far more people than you’re used to, pushing, pulling and writhing your way to satisfaction, then perhaps a shopping mall is not the ideal location.

The tradition of Black Friday as the day when one attains negotiation nirvana seems a peculiar one. And one has to wonder whether people have learned that some of the deals really aren’t deals at all.

As CNET’s Rick Broida has already pointed out, many of the alleged deals aren’t terribly enticing, as stores have been forced to reduce their prices all year in a desperate attempt to attract the cash-strapped.

However, CNNMoney.com has also written of some slightly tired tactics being promulgated by Black Friday peddlers.

It seems that some are using the rather more saliva-inducing tech items to snap people’s sleeping patterns. However, the tinier print of the inducement reveals that there may not be many of these items in stock.

If this reminds you of
car dealers, well, then it’s perhaps not a good thing.

CNNMoney.com tells the story of Sears’ trumpeting of a Samsung 40-inch 1080p LCD HDTV for $599.99. Would this make you slip you fur coat over your PJs, leap into your sedan, and rush to your local mall while it’s still dark outside?

With Electronic Arts’ recent $400 million purchase of Playfish, social games are all the rage in today’s tech industry. That’s no surprise: lightweight games on social networks (which people usually play while they’re goofing off at work) and social games have attracted huge player numbers with the biggest titles boasting 20 million to 60 million regular players.

The Cray XT5 supercomputer known as “Jaguar” has finally clawed its way to the title of fastest computer in the world.

Sitting back at No. 2 on the Top500 list of supercomputers for more than a year, Jaguar overtook IBM’s “Roadrunner” according to the twice-yearly list that will be unveiled Tuesday at the SC09 Conference in Portland, Ore., this week.

Jaguar beat out the competition by showing it can process 1.75 petflop/s, or quadrillions of floating point operations per second, according to the Top500 Linpack benchmark. IBM’s Roadrunner was pushed back to No. 2 by posting a processing speed of 1.04 petaflop/s, a dip from the 1.105 petaflop/s it reached in a June 2009 test. The slower performance this time around is apparently due to a repartitioning of the system.

Every six months when the Top500 List is released the threshold to grab a place on it gets higher. The slowest supercomputer (No. 500) on November’s list posted a speed of 20 teraflop/s, up from the 17.1 teraflop/s of six months ago. In other words, what is the slowest computer this time around would have been No. 336 in June.

Kraken, another Cray XT5 system, jumped up two places from its former No. 5 position by posting a processing performance speed of 832 teraflop/s. IBM’s BlueGene/P, from Forschungszentrum Juelich in Germany, came in at No. 4 with 825.5 teraflop/s. At No. 5 is China’s Tianhe-1, the highest ranking ever for a Chinese supercomputer.

The top 10, while still dominated by supercomputers housed in the United States, had just one newcomer. That would be Sandia National Laboratories’ “Red Sky,” a Sun Blade system that posted a Linpack performance of 423 teraflop/s.

Just as the last time the list was released, the Top500 list is made up mostly of Hewlett-Packard and IBM computers. HP accounted for 210 of this year’s 500, and IBM 185. In terms of processors in use, Intel still enjoys the lion’s share, with 80 percent. The most popular operating system is Linux, with 90 percent of the Top500.

Here’s the Top 10:

Jaguar, Cray, Oak Ridge National Laboratory (1.75 petaflop/s)

Roadrunner, IBM, Los Alamos National Laboratory (1.04 petaflop/s)

Kraken XT5, Cray, National Institute for Computational Sciences (832 teraflop/s)

JUGENE, IBM, Forschungszentrum Juelich (825.5 teraflop/s)

Tianhe-1, NUDT, National SuperComputer Center in Tianjin (563.1 teraflop/s)

Pleiades, SGI, NASA Ames Research Center (544.3 teraflop/s)

BlueGeneL, IBM, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (478.2 teraflop/s)

BlueGene/P, IBM, Argonne National Laboratory (458.61 teraflop/s)

Ranger, Sun, Texas Advanced Computing Center (433.20 teraflop/s)

Red Sky, Sun, Sandia National Laboratories (423.9 teraflop/s)
