There is some hope after ChevronWP7 discountinuation

ChevronWP7 memeber chiswalshie has tweeted regarding the future of Windows phone 7 homebrew developemnt recently,

It the article on ChevronWP7 site, Chris has said that they are having many meetings with Microsoft regarding the developement of homebrew for Windows phone 7 and also protecting the copyrights and platform security.

He has also informed that next (first!!) update of WP7 will fix the bug that allowed ChevronWP7 unlocker tool to work. ChevronWP7 unlocker tool allowed to install any non market apps to Windows phone directly using XAP installer. It used patched certificate to do that..

Chris has also indicated that Microsoft and Chevron team is working on some other tool to allow the homeberw developement after ChevronWP7 is dicountinued..

“After two full days of meetings with various members of the Windows Phone 7 team, we couldn’t wait to share with everyone the results of those discussions.

Although a large majority of the content presented by Microsoft is covered by a non-disclosure agreement (NDA), which we voluntarily agreed to, we can say we’re genuinely excited by many of the forward-looking presentations. We can only hope they come to fruition as soon as possible.”…
